As part of its strategic institutional development process, NEAQA signed today an agreement with Franci Demšar, PhD and Maja Milas from NAKVIS (Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education), engaged as consultants to improve the quality management system and strengthen preparations for applying to ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education).
Franci Demšar, former Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia and Ambassador to the Russian Federation, has led NAKVIS since 2018. Additionally, he was elected President of the Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies (CEENQA) in 2020 and re-elected in 2022. His expertise in international quality standards, combined with extensive experience in public administration and academic evaluation, represents exceptional value for NEAQA.
Maja Milas, Head of the Analytics and Information Technology Department at NAKVIS, leads the team responsible for preparing annual plans and reports, conducting self-assessments and external evaluations, including revising criteria in cooperation with ENQA. Her competence in managing complex evaluative and analytical activities is vital for NEAQA’s readiness and alignment with ENQA’s requirements.
By engaging these renowned experts, NEAQA reaffirms its commitment to implementing the best international practices, laying a solid foundation for successful application for full membership in ENQA and strengthening the institution’s reputation both nationally and internationally.
This collaboration is further enhanced by the fact that NAKVIS is a full member of ENQA and is registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), confirming their longstanding credibility and compliance with the highest standards of the European Higher Education Area.
The agreement provides for comprehensive expert support and strategic consulting, enabling critical review of existing procedures, improvement of organizational culture, and development of a sustainable quality assurance system based on the experiences of leading European agencies.
Through this initiative, NEAQA once again confirms its determination to develop a modern, efficient, and transparent system aligned with the highest European standards.
