As part of the official visit of the President of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), Prof. Daniela Cristina Ghițulică, PhD, to the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NEAQA), a final meeting with NEAQA management and staff was held on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at the Palace of Serbia.

The meeting was dedicated to specific operational aspects of the agency’s work, with particular attention to the organisation of activities, available resources, financing, internal procedures, coordination of the work of expert bodies, and administrative support to accreditation and external quality assurance procedures.

During the discussion, issues relevant to the further strengthening of NEAQA’s institutional and professional capacities were considered, as well as ways in which the agency can improve its internal quality mechanisms, monitoring of its own work, collection of feedback and use of internal analysis results for further improvement of procedures.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), especially the parts relating to the work of quality assurance agencies, independence, resources, internal quality assurance, thematic analyses, transparency of reporting and follow-up procedures.

NEAQA staff had the opportunity to discuss with the ENQA President the practical significance of individual segments of the ESG, expectations within the European Higher Education Area, and examples of good practice in the work of European quality assurance agencies.

The discussion also focused on NEAQA’s next steps in preparing for regaining full membership in ENQA and registration in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), with an emphasis on the consistent implementation of procedures, strengthening of internal capacities and continuous improvement of the agency’s work.

The final meeting provided an opportunity for an open and direct exchange of views on NEAQA’s day-to-day functioning, challenges in applying European standards and opportunities for the further professional development of the agency.

This meeting concluded the official visit of the ENQA President to the National Accreditation Body, during which meetings were held with NEAQA management and expert bodies, students, representatives of the economy and the qualifications system, higher education institutions, as well as the highest state officials of the Republic of Serbia. The visit represented an important step in strengthening cooperation between NEAQA and ENQA and in further aligning the quality assurance system in the Republic of Serbia with European standards.
