The daily newspaper Politika published an opinion article by Prof. Dr. Stefan Milojević (Chief of the Director’s Office and Assistant Director of NEAQA for Initial Accreditation, Accreditation, and External Quality Assurance) entitled “If a Study Programme Is Not Accredited, the Diploma Is Not Valid”, as part of its weekly feature “Faculties in Search of Students”.
Through an expert analysis of current issues in the field of higher education, Prof. Dr. Milojević highlights the importance of making an informed choice when selecting a higher education institution and study programme, as well as the crucial role of accreditation in ensuring quality, transparency, and trust in the higher education system.
The article particularly emphasizes the role of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education of Serbia (NEAQA), which, through accreditation procedures and external quality assurance processes, contributes to maintaining and improving higher education standards in the Republic of Serbia.
Prof. Dr. Milojević points out that accreditation is not merely a formal procedure, but a comprehensive expert evaluation process assessing the teaching, academic staff, infrastructure, and other capacities of higher education institutions, with the aim of ensuring that students receive high-quality education and obtain legally valid diplomas.
The article also underlines the importance of providing reliable and accessible information to prospective students and their parents, as well as the need to align the development of higher education with the contemporary needs of society, the economy, and the labour market.
