Nebojša Zdravković, PhD, Full Professor

Prof. Nebojša Zdravković, PhD was born on June 9, 1969, in Kragujevac, Serbia. He completed both primary and secondary education in Kragujevac. He graduated from the University of Kragujevac as the top student of his class, where he also completed his master’s and doctoral studies, achieving distinction among the leading students of his generation. He has undertaken professional development at several prestigious universities worldwide.

During his fourth year of undergraduate studies, he joined the Engineering Software Laboratory team, contributing to multiple projects focused on developing software for numerical calculations and computer graphics. He was also involved in the Biomedical Engineering and Informatics Department of the Scientific Research Center of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) and the University of Kragujevac, as well as at the Higher Technical School in Čačak.

From 2005 to 2010, he served as a professor at the Faculty of Information Technology, Metropolitan University in Belgrade.

Since 2010, Prof. Zdravković has been employed at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac, where he initially served as an assistant professor and head of the Department of Medical Informatics and Statistics, later becoming an associate professor and full professor. During this time, he has been actively involved in delivering theoretical and practical lectures for integrated academic studies in medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, as well as teaching various subjects at the master’s and doctoral academic levels. He was the Vice Dean for Master’s Studies and leads doctoral academic studies in “Health System Management” and master’s academic studies in “Health System Management.” Additionally, he was a member of committees on quality assurance, accreditation, postgraduate studies, and scientific research. He has served as an advisor to the Dean on human resources and research, coordinator for Erasmus+ projects, and chair of the accreditation committee.

He has also taught at the Faculty of Medicine, Military Medical Academy, University of Defense in Belgrade from 2018 to 2024 as part of integrated academic medical studies and doctoral programs.

Prof. Zdravković has been a member of the National Council for Higher Education from March 2020 to November 2024, serving his second term, nominated by the Conference of Universities of Serbia (CONUS).

He is the author and co-author of over 100 papers published in scientific journals, as well as at international and national conferences and seminars. He has co-authored a monograph, written four books, and authored a practical manual. He actively organizes and delivers continuing medical education programs at the Faculty of Medical Sciences under the guidance of the Serbian Health Council. He has delivered numerous lectures and contributed significantly to the development of young researchers. Since 2013, he has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics (M24), a member of the editorial board of Revisor (M53), and part of the management team of Experimental and Applied Biomedical Research (M51). He regularly reviews for prestigious international journals listed in the SCI database, including Healthcare, Journal of Personalized Medicine, Diagnostics, Molecules, Journal of Clinical Medicine, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Medicina, Systems, and Journal of Vascular Diseases.

Prof. Zdravković has participated in several EU Framework Programme 7 (FP7) and Horizon 2020 projects. Since 2011, he has been involved in a Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development project titled “Application of Biomedical Engineering in Preclinical and Clinical Practice.” He has served as the Chair of the Entrepreneurship Committee at the University of Kragujevac and as a member of the working group for ranking the university on international lists. Between 2008 and 2012, he coordinated Fiat contract implementation, chaired the Economic Council of the City of Kragujevac, and was a member of the Political Committee of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).

On November 1, 2024, the Management Board of NEAQA elected Prof. Nebojša Zdravković, PhD as its new director for a five-year term.

Since he was elected as the Director of NEAQA, his employment at the Faculty of Medical Sciences has been suspended until the end of his term as Director of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

He is fluent in English. Prof. Zdravković is married and has two sons.
