The Director of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NEAQA), Prof. Nebojša Zdravković, PhD, attended the ceremony marking the University of Defence Day on 24 February 2026, held at the amphitheatre of the National Defence School “Vojvoda Radomir Putnik” in Belgrade.
The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Defence, Bratislav Gašić, and the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Academician Bela Balint, as well as numerous representatives of military, scientific and educational institutions. On this occasion, the Rector of the University of Defence, Brigadier General Prof. Boban Đorović, PhD, presented the Director of NEAQA with a plaque of the University of Defence in recognition of his contribution to the development of NEAQA’s military education.
The speeches highlighted the importance of the University of Defence as the umbrella institution of military education in the Republic of Serbia, continuing a tradition of Serbian military schooling spanning almost two centuries. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of knowledge, scientific research, and the continuous improvement of study programmes in the context of contemporary security and technological challenges.
The Rector of the University of Defence also reflected on the results achieved in the previous year and presented doctoral diplomas and awards to distinguished individuals and institutions.
The awarding of a plaque by the University of Defence to NEAQA for its contribution to the development of military education, as well as the presence of NEAQA’s Director at the celebration of the University of Defence Day, confirm NEAQA’s recognized role in enhancing the quality of higher education in the Republic of Serbia. This recognition represents yet another affirmation of NEAQA’s professional and institutional contribution to quality assurance and improvement across all segments of the higher education system, including military education.
