NEAQA’s Secretary-General Janko Balšić and International Cooperation Officer Emilia Knežević participated at this year’s ENQA Forum, held from April 18 to 19, 2024 in Hannover, Germany.
The event was organised in cooperation with the Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZevA)and was held at the Hochschule Hannover, Campus Linden in Hannover.
The forum was opened by Prof. Dr. Tina Cornelius-Krügel, Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, Head of the Department of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Dörte Heüveldop, University of Applied Sciences Hannover, Vice President for Teaching and Learning, Social Opening, and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Katja Koch, ZEvA Scientific Director and Technische Universität Braunschweig, Vice-President, and Douglas Blackstock, ENQA President.
On the first day, two plenary sessions were held;Time: the neglected dimension of quality assurance with an emphasis on the temporal aspects of quality assurance, including quality assurance cycles, time as a resource and expectations of continuous improvement over time, and Quality assurance policy developments in the EHEA and EU with a focus on current policy development, including topics that will be discussed at the Bologna Process Ministerial Conference in Tirana in May.
The first day was dedicated to break out sessions and participants could choose which sessions to attend. The topics were Quality Assurance of Transnational Education, Agency approaches to follow-up and appeals/complaints and Ongoing developments on QA of micro-credentials.
At the end of the first day, the General Assembly was held and was attended by members and affiliates of ENQA.
The second day a plenary session was held; Artificial Intelligence: hero or villain for QA? which explored the various roles of agencies in supporting institutions in the appropriate use of AI technologies as well as how AI could be used by agencies themselves to facilitate their external QA activities. The rest of the second day was devoted to thematic poster sessions where participants had the opportunity to share the experiences of their agencies.
Douglas Blackstock, ENQA President closed the event at the end of the second day and thanked the participants for a successful and productive forum.
