Prime Minister Đuro Macut, NEAQA Leadership and Expert Bodies Discuss the Future of Study Programmes with University Deans

BELGRADE, June 5, 2026 – A roundtable discussion entitled “Modernization of Existing and Accreditation of New (Innovative) Study Programmes” was held today at the Palace of Serbia. The event brought together the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Đuro Macut, deans of faculties in the fields of engineering, technology, natural sciences and mathematics founded by the Republic of Serbia, as well as representatives of the leadership and expert bodies of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NEAQA).

The central topic of the discussion was the improvement and modernization of higher education through amendments to existing accredited study programmes, as well as the accreditation of new joint and interdisciplinary study programmes aligned with contemporary scientific achievements and labour market needs.

Participants discussed the development of new study programmes, the adaptation of higher education to technological changes, and the strengthening of cooperation between higher education institutions, industry and state institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on developing innovative educational models that will enable students to acquire modern knowledge and competencies necessary for successful professional careers.

Representatives of the faculties shared their experiences and proposals for improving accreditation procedures, highlighting the need for the continuous adaptation of curricula to the dynamic changes taking place in science, technology and industry.

Representing the leadership of NEAQA at the roundtable were Prof. Dr. Nebojša Zdravković, Director of NEAQA, and Prof. Dr. Stefan Milojević, Head of the Director’s Office and Assistant Director for Initial Accreditation, Accreditation and External Quality Assurance.

Representing the Accreditation Commission, the expert body of NEAQA, were Prof. Dr. Predrag Mirković, President of the Accreditation Commission, along with subcommittee coordinators Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Kupusinac and Prof. Dr. Snežana Rajković.

The roundtable continues the dialogue between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and NEAQA with the academic community, aimed at creating the conditions for a higher-quality, more modern and internationally competitive higher education system.

It was concluded that innovation in teaching, interdisciplinarity and closer cooperation with industry are key prerequisites for the development of study programmes capable of meeting the needs of society and the labour market in the years ahead.
